FC National U10 Boys Select Capture Gold at the Leidos KICKS Invitational!

FC National U10 Boys Select returned from Huntsville, Alabama, with gold medals after an outstanding performance at the NASC (North Alabama Soccer Coalition) Leidos KICKS Invitational on October 17–18. Competing in the tournament’s highest U10 division at Merrimack Sports Complex, the boys won all three matches and scored 21 goals against strong, physical Alabama opposition.

The team opened Saturday with a convincing 7–3 victory, then followed it with an 8–3 win to secure a place in Sunday’s championship game. A 6–3 victory in the final completed a perfect weekend and brought the championship home to FC National.

A complete team performance

Beyond the scorelines, the boys produced some of their best soccer of the season. Their energy, determination, and understanding of the game were evident throughout the tournament. Players maintained their shape, took responsibility for their positions, and moved the ball quickly to create chances.

The same commitment carried through defensively. The team shifted together, supported the player applying pressure, and provided cover and balance behind the ball. Strong tackling and quick transitions helped turn defensive work into attacking opportunities. It was a complete team performance, reflecting the progress this group continues to make.

Memories beyond the field

Some of the weekend’s favorite memories came away from the field. Shared hotel breakfasts, breakfast burritos, and time with friends gave the boys plenty to enjoy between games. Watching the Tennessee Vols take on the Alabama Crimson Tide added to the fun, along with a little Rocky Top and more time playing together at a local sports venue.

Parents had their own chance to connect, including time around the hotel fire pit, while making sure the players were rested and ready for the next day. Asked about their favorite moments, the boys talked about spending time with teammates and enjoying breakfast together just as readily as playing great soccer and winning gold.

Travel tournaments offer valuable opportunities to compete and develop, but the friendships formed along the way matter just as much. Weekends like this bring players and families closer together, building the trust and team spirit that carry onto the field.

Thank you to our FC National community

Congratulations to our U10 Boys Select players on an outstanding championship weekend. Thank you to coaches David and Jake for their leadership, dedication, and commitment to developing these young athletes, and to team manager Christa for everything she does behind the scenes.

To our FC National families, thank you for the time, commitment, and support that make these experiences possible. Your dedication is reflected in the boys’ performances, friendships, and growing confidence as a team.

Way to represent FC National and bring home the gold!
